GETTING STARTED

Most attorneys will order your credit report but will often request that you provide a list of creditors which can be compared to the information on the credit report. Therefore it is advisable to bring the following items to your initial meeting:

  1. Paycheck stubs for at least 60 days preceding the filing of your case. For example if you file your case January 1, 2016 , you will need to provide all paycheck stub since November 1, 2015. In most instances if you are self-employed or have been unemployed, an affidavit will be prepared on your behalf.
  2. Copy of your most recently filed income tax return.
  3. List of creditors with names, addresses, and approximate balances. You are required to list all of your creditors even if you are keeping your property. You have the right to decide how your creditors are treated in your case.
