Aggressive driving is very prevalent in Georgia. In fact, most drivers, and when I say most, I mean approximately half of the drivers out there on the road, will admit to aggressive driving. The group of drivers that actually is guilty of aggressive driving more likely than not is the young, male, teenage drivers. A lot of times, those drivers are trying to outmaneuver you on the road and they’re swerving in and out unsafely and they’re taking very risky behavior when they’re on the highways.
These drivers, a lot of times, will honk at you or turn on their lights and flash their lights unnecessary and that is when it’s just not necessary from the circumstances involved. Nowadays, drivers like to get even with each other on the highway. As you might imagine, the results are often very serious physically and sometimes even causing death. Aggressive driving is a huge contributor to fatalities on the highways. Approximately 66% of all fatalities on the highways is related to aggressive driving.
Some of the signs of an aggressive driver might include somebody who’s honking unnecessarily, unnecessarily I should say. Sometimes they are using their headlights on a high beam when they should be using really the low beam. Sometimes they’re tailgating you. Sometimes they’re swerving in and out of the traffic in a very unsafe manner. Those are some of the signs that you are dealing with or potentially dealing with an aggressive driver.
If you are faced with an aggressive driver, remember your safety involved in the motor vehicle, your family’s safety or friend’s safety. It’s simply not worth it so you should just remain calm, take a deep breath. If you have to slow down or pull over to the side or whatever you have to do but do not engage that driver. It’s just too risky. If you’ve been the victim of an aggressive driving accident, please feel free to contact my office at 770-792-1000.
