Hi. I’m Roger Ghai and I wanted to talk today a little bit about the more frequently asked questions that I usually received from clients involved in car accident cases. The first question is, “How much money will I receive from my automobile accident case?” No two cases are alike and no two values are alike, and that goes with any type of case. There’s no formula to determine what the value of the case is worth.
Another question that I often get is, “How long will it take for me to settle my car accident case?” That depends on a variety of factors. Sometimes it’s very easy to settle the case with the insurance company after you’ve completed all of your treatment. Other times we’re not able to settle the case with the insurance company after treatment so we have to file a lawsuit and that takes much more time, sometimes as long as a year or so.
Now, another question that I will get along those lines is, “Does every case have to go to court?” The short and simple answer is no, it doesn’t. In fact, we may file a lawsuit in your case but your case may never reach the inside of courtroom. Another question I get is, “After I’ve had an accident, should I always go to a doctor or some other medical provider?” My answer is, “Absolutely, yes, you should.” There are few reasons that you should do that.
First of all, the insurance company will claim that you were not hurt if you don’t go to the doctor immediately after the accident. The second reason is that you really do want to get checked out make sure that you are healthy. Another question that I often receive is, “The insurance company has given me a form. Should I sign off on that form?” My answer is absolutely not. They’re not looking out for your interest, you should never sign any form that the insurance company wants you to sign without first speaking to a competent lawyer.
