Let’s talk a little bit today about the loading procedures of cargo on the truck. The trucking company has to make sure that the cargo is loaded in a manner which makes sure that it does not either spill, leak, or fall off the truck. The cargo also has to be so secure and positioned on the truck that it does not impact whether the truck is able to maneuver or not. All of the trucks systems, structures, and parts have to be in working order to make sure that everything is fully secure.
If the cargo is likely to shift during the trip, then the trucking company has to make sure that there are certain restraints in place to fully secure the cargo. There are specific regulations relating to the securing of logs, pipes, automobiles, and other large cargo. If the cargo is going to extend by more than four inches from the side of the truck, or by four feet or more from the rear of the truck, then the trucking company and the trucker has to have special markings on the cargo.
