Yes, this is Roger Ghai, and I wanted to talk this morning about post-traumatic stress and car accidents. A lot of times, people associate post-traumatic stress with more and more veterans and all the anxiety and the difficulties that they have. Of course, they suffer from depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and a bunch of other things just coping with life. In a car accident, believe it or not, a person can also sustain or be susceptible to post-traumatic stress syndrome.
In a car accident, a person doesn’t really have to even have a physical injury to sustain or to experience post-traumatic stress syndrome. Like I said, a person doesn’t really have to have a very serious physical injury and the symptoms of PSTD, post-traumatic stress syndrome, can actually appear in a car accident or somebody who’s been involved in the car accident, months or weeks later.
People who have been involved in the car accidents when they do suffer from PSTD, a lot of times, they feel like they have a feeling of being frozen or they have a feeling of mental numbness. There can be a variety of symptoms relating to a motor vehicle accident and post-traumatic stress syndrome. If you have any questions about whether you have a claim for post-traumatic stress syndrome resulting from a car accident, please call my office at 770-792-1000.
